Hotels - General Notes
The Hotels and Guest houses mentioned below are typical of what is on offer in Thailand, ranging from a
non-aircon room in Chiang Mai for 200 Baht per night to a room in a top class international hotel
for $100 per night upwards. The selection is based on hotels that I have stayed in, or at least
seen inside, and is a tiny selection of the vast number of hotels and guest houses in the kingdom.
Generally Thai hotels are very good, the best ones having a very high quality of design, service, restaurants and business facilities; in comparison, the London hotels I have stayed in over recent years have been expensive, with poor service, expensive food, and rooms which would be put to shame by some rooms in a 400 baht Thai Guest house.
The guest houses listed are mainly priced at between 600 Baht and 1000 Baht per room (not per occupant) per night, are clean and accessible, with air-con and ensuite shower. Many do not provide breakfast, but this is no hardship as there is always somewhere close at hand for western or asian breakfast. Suggestions for additions are always welcome.
